Verdicts & Settlements

These case results are examples of matters handled by Posey Lebowitz PLLC. The outcome of any case depends on the specific facts and legal circumstances of that case. These results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any future matter. Amounts shown are gross recoveries before attorney's fees, case expenses, and medical liens. Asset values are stated as of 2026 and will change.

More than $32 million recovered.

Plus more than $22 million in other assets.

Most law firm results pages show you five cases. This is what the whole file looks like.

We went back through every settlement this firm has ever disbursed — more than 250 matters and better than a thousand disbursement records — and added them up. More than seventy-five of those recoveries were over $100,000. More than thirty were over $250,000. More than ten crossed half a million dollars. Five crossed a million.

And in one matter we recovered a large holding of digital currency out of federal custody — an asset worth more today than every cash settlement on this page combined.

Every figure on this page is rounded down. We would rather understate our record than overstate it.

More than $25 million in settlements, including confidential matters

Wrongful death. Premises liability. Workplace injury. Consumer and medical claims. Motor vehicle collisions. Business disputes.

A number of our largest results are governed by confidentiality agreements we intend to honor, so we cannot describe them individually. We have not left them out of our totals, and we have not dressed them up in vague language to get around the agreements. They are reported in aggregate, which is the honest way to do it.

Representative Recoveries

These are examples, not a ranking, and not a total. They are matters we are free to describe.

$1,500,000 — Apartment fire; the building had gone two years without working heat.

$1,300,000 — Pedestrian struck in a marked crosswalk while crossing on a walk signal.

$750,000 — Rear-ended by a commercial van; permanent post-concussion injury on under $34,000 in medical bills.

More than $725,000 — Two passengers critically injured in one collision; substantially all available coverage recovered.

$515,000 — Cyclist hit by an illegal U-turn. The at-fault driver carried $25,000; the rest came from our own client's coverage.

$500,000 — Underinsured motorist claim litigated against our own client's insurer after it refused to pay.

$500,000 — Skateboarder struck by a driver making an illegal U-turn across a double yellow line.

$450,000 — Federal Tort Claims Act claim arising from a collision caused by a government vehicle.

$375,000 — Restaurant bench that had never been bolted down; hip fracture requiring surgery.

$350,000 — Rear-end collision; neurological injury with normal brain imaging.

Recovered from federal custody: more than $22 million in digital currency

A client's laptop was surrendered to federal agents during an investigation. On its hard drive was a digital wallet. When the case ended and the government no longer needed the computer as evidence, it still had the property — and there was no obvious mechanism to get it back.

We moved under Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 41(g) for return of the non-contraband files, were admitted in the district for the motion, traveled to the forensic examiner, took possession of the wallet, and transferred the entire balance to a hardware wallet before disbursing it to the client.

The currency traded near $700 a unit when we recovered it. Valued as of 2026, the same holding is worth more than $22 million. The figure above updates itself, and always rounds down.

Not every win is a check

The figures on this page count money recovered for injured people. They do not count the commercial matters where winning meant something other than a payment — and for a business client, those are often the ones that mattered most.

We have defeated a forced sale of a client's real property in a partition action and put sole ownership and clear title in his hands instead. We have taken contract and fiduciary-duty claims into arbitration against manufacturers. We have litigated shareholder and partnership disputes, and matters where the object was an injunction, a dismissal, a declaration of rights, or simply making an opponent go away on terms our client could live with.

None of that shows up in a settlement total. All of it is what a small business is actually buying when it hires a litigator.
